Low Voltage Technician School Projects (2nd Shift)
Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Low Voltage Technician to support cabling and AV/intercom system installations across K 12 school facilities. This position operates on 2nd shift working after school hours to minimize disruption to teachers and students.
The technician will perform structured cabling tasks install classroom and building-wide AV/intercom equipment and support the integration of communications systems throughout school campuses. Prior commercial cabling experience is required; AV/intercom experience is preferred but training is available for strong installers.
Key Responsibilities -
Pull route dress label and terminate CAT5e/CAT6/CAT6a and low-voltage control cabling throughout school buildings.

Install cabling through ceilings basements risers conduit cable trays and J-hooks in both new construction and existing facilities.

Install and support intercom head-end equipment classroom speakers call buttons hallway speakers paging horns and AV devices.

Mount and install displays projectors classroom AV hardware and supporting brackets/hardware.

Assist with basic programming support tasks (labeling system testing device discovery - no coding required).

Perform basic troubleshooting and system verification for AV/intercom systems and cabling infrastructure.

Work independently on 2nd shift while maintaining high-quality workmanship and safety standards.

Follow security and access protocols when working in K 12 environments.
Preferred Experience -
1 5 years of experience in commercial or institutional structured cabling (schools offices hospitals etc.).

Experience with AV installations intercom/paging systems or PA systems (Bogen Rauland Atlas etc.) is a plus but not required.

Familiarity with EIA/TIA cabling standards and best practices.

Ability to read basic school floor plans and identify pathways for cabling.

Proficiency with low-voltage tools: testers toners drills ladders fish tape termination tools etc.
Requirements -
Ability to work 2nd shift (typically afternoon through late evening).

Must be able to pass background checks required for work in K 12 school districts.

Ability to lift 50 lbs work on ladders and handle overhead/ceiling work.

Reliable transportation to report to multiple school sites as scheduled.

Basic personal tools required (tool list provided upon onboarding).
Soft Skills -
Professional conduct in educational environments; comfortable working around teachers administrators and custodial staff.

Strong attention to detail-especially with labeling device mounting and neat cabling.

Ability to work independently on shift with minimal supervision.
