Job Summary

An international cybersecurity and telco security firm is hiring a Technical Lead / Principal Backend Engineer to lead the architecture and development of its real-time backend platform. The role combines leadership with hands-on coding and is based in Budapest with a hybrid model (23 days onsite).

Description

You will define and evolve backend architecture implement high-throughput APIs and lead a small senior team. The role covers microservices messaging/streaming and secure service-to-service communication. You will balance delivery with technical debt management mentor fellow engineers and stay actively engaged in coding (around 70%).

Requirements

8 years in backend engineering; 2 years in a tech-lead/principal role
Expertise in Java 17 and Spring Boot 3 (WebFlux Data Security)
Strong database experience (Postgres schema design query tuning)
Messaging/event streaming (MQTT Kafka NATS RabbitMQ)
Kubernetes/Docker production experience
Strong command of written and spoken English
Nice to have: TimescaleDB or experience.
