Job Summary

In the Cloud tribe in the Data Services area a position of GOlang Engineer within Cassandra team has become available.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Golang engineer who loves to create stuff from scratch with a mindset of security first.

Has a natural tendency to help and support and learn from other engineering teams.

A large part of this function will be customer support and owning the API knowing what is happening and communicating with our infra backend.

The team

The purpose of the Global Tribe Cloud is to build and run the target infrastructure platform in a (private) cloud delivery model. This delivery model is based on multi-tenant self-service pay-per-use capabilities for applications of DevOps teams as defined in the One Way of Working.

Tribe Cloud comprises five Global Areas:

  • Infrastructure as a Service

  • Data Services

  • Platform as a Service

  • Cloud API Platform

  • Onboarding and Customer Experience

The Minions squad provides Cassandra Keyspace as a Service (KaaS) on our multitenant and dedicated clusters. KaaS is provided as a complete journey our centre of expertise provides continued support and advice to teams using our service.

The Minions squad strives to be ahead of the game by keeping a close eye

on all the metrics and logs to detect possible interruptions before they happen.

At the end our service plays a critical part within the ING Bank its operations.

Base location of the engineer is Netherlands ING Amsterdam.

Roles and responsibilities

Our team provides and maintains a database platform based on Cassandra in an automated fashion. We want to enable teams to spend more time delivering new application features by taking away the burden of managing their datastore (like installing extending patching upgrades etc.)

As Go Engineer within API Squad of KaaS you are requested to maintain and create and continuously improve the KaaS API (Which enables efficient provisioning and management of Cassandra datastore). You can build test and document the features.
You must also contribute to writing up the security documentation and technical state controls.

How to succeed:

Our ideal new colleague has:

  • Bachelors degree in Information Technology.

  • Minimal 1-2 years experience in the core of GO.

  • Intermediate expertise in OpenShift 4 (Kubernetes k8s/Helm) is a must.

  • Capable of delivering both working code and a suitable set of automated tests.

  • Intermediate expertise in Azure DevOps CD/CI tools and pipelines Ansible is a must.

  • Linux RHEL 8/9 experience is a nice to have.

  • Good understanding of software security issues like the OWASP top 10.

  • Way of working with Agile / Scrum methodology.

  • Understanding of working in a complex IT landscape such as ING.

  • Excellent soft skills.

  • Experience with working in high performance Agile teams.

  • Strong Team Player.

  • Fluent English / Level B2 (verbal and written).
