Head of Intellectual Property

Manifold Bio is a dynamic biotech company building a pipeline of targeted biologics using a novel in vivo-centric discovery approach. Our drug discovery engine is differentiated by massively parallel screening in vivo from the beginning of our discovery process. This unique platform is powered by a proprietary protein barcoding technology that allows multiplexed protein quantitation at unprecedented scale and sensitivity. We combine this and other high-throughput protein engineering approaches with computational design to create antibody-like drugs and other biologics. Position

We are seeking a Head of Intellectual Property to lead all aspects of our IP strategy and execution. This individual will partner closely with R&D business development and executive leadership to build a robust global IP portfolio that secures our platform technologies and therapeutic pipeline while positioning the company for long-term success.

Responsibilities

• IP Strategy & Leadership
  • Define and implement a comprehensive global IP strategy aligned with corporate objectives.
  • Advise senior leadership on IP risks opportunities and competitive positioning.
• Portfolio Development & Management
  • Direct all patent drafting filing prosecution and portfolio management activities.
  • Collaborate with inventors and external counsel to generate and protect high-value IP.
  • Build a balanced portfolio covering platforms therapeutic programs and proprietary methods.
• Collaboration & Enablement
  • Partner with R&D teams to identify inventions early and secure protection.
  • Train scientific staff on IP awareness and best practices.
  • Support business development with IP due diligence for partnerships licensing and M&A.
• Risk Mitigation
  • Conduct freedom-to-operate analyses and monitor third-party IP.
  • Provide competitive IP landscaping to guide research and strategy.
  • Oversee IP enforcement opposition and litigation as needed.

Requirements

• JD PhD or advanced degree in life sciences biotechnology or related field.
• 10 years of IP experience with significant time in biotech/biopharma.
• Demonstrated expertise in patent law prosecution and global IP landscapes.
• Proven track record of building and managing IP portfolios that support business growth.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly explain IP strategy to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Prior leadership experience in-house at a biotech or biopharma company strongly preferred.
