Requirements
Current Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services (DARS) Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services (DHHS) Board for Evaluation of Interpreters (BEI) certification or current national equivalent certification.
Licenses & Certifications
Part-time interpreter salary grade/hourly rate is determined based on certification level:
INTERPRETER I (Salary Grade 212HR) $32.00
BEI Basic certification or equivalent
Equivalent certifications: BEI Level I NIC
INTERPRETER II (Salary Grade 213HR) $33.50
BEI Level II certification or equivalent
Equivalent certifications: CI CT IC IT
INTERPRETER III (Salary Grade 214HR) $38.50
BEI Advanced certification or equivalent
Equivalent certifications: BEi Level III NIC Advanced CSC IC/TC CI/CT RSC CDI
INTERPRETER IV (Salary Grade 215HR) $43.25
BEI Level IV certification or equivalent
Equivalent certifications: MCSC SCL
INTERPRETER V (Salary Grade 216HR) $46.00
BEI Master certification or equivalent
Equivalent certifications: BEi Level V NIC Master
NOTE: Part-time Interpreters will receive a 10% pay differential for nights after 5 p.m. and weekends.
