Finance Specialist

Job Summary

The Finance Assistant works under the supervision of the Finance Director. The accounting assistant will keep financial records prepare reports and update financial information.

Major Responsibilities

1. Processing business transactions; keeping financial records up-to-date.

2. Perform bookkeeping and ledger maintenance following accounting best practices.

3. Fact-checking invoices for payment and processing.

4. Monitoring vendor statements wire transfer requests and other transactions.

5. Posting customer checks vendor payments and ACH payments; conduct collection efforts as needed.

6. Correcting and modifying inaccurate files and records.

7. Reconciling account balances.

8. Processing billing adjustments and refunds.

9. Maintain relationships with outside agencies and organizations necessary to these responsibilities.

10. Assisting in account analysis and account coding.

11. Assisting the accounting manager with audits forecasts and other fiscal planning.

12. Assisting the financial department other assistants and the Finance Director as needed.

13. Provide backup front desk duties as needed.

14. Attend staff departmental and other YWCA meetings as assigned.

15. Maintain familiarity with YWCA goals mission and programs.

16. Filing mailing and other duties as assigned

Supervisor: Finance Director

Hours: 40 hours per week 8:00 A.M. - 4:30 PM Monday - Friday

Compensation: NON-EXEMPT 1.0 FTE. Hourly plus Full Time Benefits

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance Business with an emphasis in Accounting or a related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of accounting/bookkeeping experience
  • Experience with QuickBooks preferred
  • Excellent computer skills; experience in accounting software Microsoft Office Suite with strong aptitude for numbers spreadsheets and financial reports
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices laws standards and state/national regulations and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Ability to use 10-key by touch with accurate data entry and handle high volumes of daily data/information
  • Detail-oriented with good communication problem solving time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to develop a team approach with staff volunteers and community partners.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • Experience working with culturally and economically diverse populations.
  • Good judgement when making decisions. Able to make collaborative decisions for the good of the YWCA.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism with high standards of integrity and credibility.
