Physician / Faculty Cardiothoracic Surgeon - Thomas Jefferson University Hospital - Philadelphia PA
Position Overview:
Thomas Jefferson University Health System (TJUH) and Sidney Kimmel Medical College are seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Cardiothoracic Surgeon at the Assistant Professor level with expertise in valvular and coronary heart disease. This role may include advanced procedures such as aortic surgery and management of complex cardiac cases. Experience in heart failure and cardiogenic shock is desirable. The primary focus will be at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital with potential involvement in additional cardiac surgery programs in the health system.
Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive adult cardiothoracic surgical care with emphasis on valvular and coronary disease.
Perform advanced surgical procedures including aortic surgery minimally invasive valve surgery and coronary revascularization.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including cardiology heart failure and critical care specialists.
Participate in education and mentorship of residents fellows and medical students.
Contribute to quality improvement initiatives clinical research and academic pursuits.
Engage in scholarly activities with an emphasis on education multimedia-based presentations and mentorship.
Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited cardiothoracic surgery residency
Board-certified or board-eligible in thoracic/cardiac surgery
Fellowship training in cardiac surgery or relevant advanced procedures
preferred
Eligible for medical licensure in Pennsylvania
Strong communication leadership and collaborative skills
About Jefferson Health:
The Cardiothoracic Surgery Division provides services exclusively to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and Abington Hospital. The practice includes an active heart transplant program based at TJUH and assist device programs (including Destination Therapy Programs) at both sites. Surgical procedures including TAVR LVADs MitraClip minimally invasive valve surgery complex aortic surgery endovascular stent grafting for thoracic aortic disease and advance heart failure treatments.
