Job Description

Reports to: Director for Special Education Compliance

Duty Days: 197 Days

Wage/Hour Status: Exempt

Pay Grade: I01

Qualifications:

Masters Degree in related field

Valid Texas teacher certificate preferred

Three years successful classroom experience preferred

Valid Diagnosticians Certificate or Licensed Specialist in School Psychology

Ability to work with school and community population

Previous experience as a Diagnostician preferred

Ability to multi-task and work on multiple assignments/projects.

Knowledgeable of federal and state special education rules and regulations

Primary Purpose:

Provide student appraisal Special Education compliance and instructional leadership to Special Education and regular education teachers within the district.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct evaluations and other professional activities consistent with timelines and other requirements of laws rules and regulations and local district policies and procedures.
  2. Access and compile formal and informal information from a variety of sources into a written report to assist in the determination of eligibility educational need and identification of programming needs.
  3. Coordinate and request additional consultation-evaluation for adapted physical education assistive technology hearing assessment vision assessment psychological services and other instructional and related services as appropriate.
  4. Provide detailed accurate record of ARD meetings and other professional activities consistent with the requirements of laws rules regulations and local district policies and procedures.
  5. Verify accuracy of PEIMS reports.
  6. Verify and approve coordination and approval of form orders and test orders.
  7. Coordinate teachers in preparing for parent pre ARD/IEP conferences.
  8. Supervise the maintenance of the audit folder and other confidential Special Education records.
  9. Communicate to parents/guardians and professionals evaluation results including purposes methods findings and implications of the evaluation.
  10. Maintain accurate and detailed records of evaluation ARD meetings and related activities.
  11. Use technology to organize information schedule meetings and staffings develop and maintain ARD documentation and produce written materials (ARDs FIEs etc.).
  12. Collaborate with campus team leader to provide training and support to campus Special Education department.
  13. Coordinate the collection of data for Extended Year Services.
  14. Assist with data collection to support scheduling of students teachers and paraprofessionals to meet requirements of IEPs.
  15. Collaborate and assist district and campus state assessment coordinators to ensure appropriate test materials are ordered for students with disabilities and provide assistance in coordinating test administration.
  16. Remain current in state and federal rules and regulations for Special Education.
  17. Serve as a resource to the campus in ensuring Special Education compliance.
  18. Coordinate with Special Education team leader campus administrators and Special Education staff to share/discuss current information relevant to Special Education issues provided through monthly meetings.
  19. Develop and maintain knowledge and skills by engaging in professional development activities.
  20. Attend monthly Diagnostic Specialist meetings.
  21. Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing sitting for long periods stopping bending kneeling pushing and pulling. Ability to move small stacks of textbooks audit folders media equipment desks and other classroom or adaptive equipment. Moderate lifting and carrying. Daily travel around the district.
