Job Summary

JOB GOAL:

To provide a safe and secure campus that will create and maintain a feeling of safety and security for all.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

This position is a 10 Month(200 days) contract plus benefits package. FLSA: Non-Exempt

NOTE: Precise placement on the salary range will be determined by experience.

SPECIAL NOTE: IF SELECTED TO MOVE FORWARD THE APPLICANT WILL BE REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE IN A PHYSICAL FITNESS AGGILITY TEST and WRITTEN TEST TO BE CONDUCTED AT A SPECIFIED TIME.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must be over 21 years of age.
  2. No misdemeanor arrests or convictions in last six (6) years.
  3. No felony arrests or convictions.
  4. Experience as a Security or Police Officer.
  5. Must have a valid drivers license no conviction for careless or reckless driving or DWI in last five (5) years.
  6. Must be willing to submit to and pass a drug test if requested.
  7. Demonstrates the conviction that all children can and will learn in the Little Rock School District.
  8. Evidence of a strong commitment to quality desegregated education.
  9. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  10. Ability to write reports in a concise and accurate manner.

  12. Must pass a physical agility test.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following statements of duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of all personnel within this position.

  1. Informs aids and advises the Director of Safety and Security and the School Principal.
  2. Assists in developing safety and security plans for assigned school buildings.
  3. Trains and supervises school and district security officers.
  4. Keeps accurate records of incidents investigated by security officers.
  5. Monitors gang activities in the school.
  6. Learns to operate all assigned equipment (scanner TV/VCR radio etc.).
  7. Acts as liaison with SROs.
  8. Provides supervision for football games basketball games and other after school activities.
  9. Recommends crime prevention programs for school.
  10. Responds to emergency situations.
  11. Maintains flexible hours in order to provide supervision when needed after regular school hours.
  12. Makes sure that all doors and windows are locked prior to leaving the building.
  13. Only open doors necessary.
  14. Audits all electronic equipment that is leaving the school.
  15. Checks on a weekly basis all Sonitrol equipment to make sure it is in working order.
  16. Inventories and makes sure security equipment needed for the school year has been ordered and all security equipment is in working order.
  17. On a daily basis checks the night lights to make sure they are in working order.
  18. Be available to direct individuals to the proper area of the school and opens and locks doors when used.
  19. Maintains an in and out book of individuals gaining access to the school.
  20. Monitors all material leaving the school.
  21. Be available to assist other schools or facilities in the district in the event of an emergency.
  22. Be available to work various hours.
  23. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Safety and Security or the school principal.

Mental Functions Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit stand walk go up and down stairs operate foot and hand controls use a telephone and write. Occasionally the employee must lift and/or move up to twenty (20) or more pounds. This position requires accurate perceiving of sound near and far vision depth perception handling and working with educational materials and/or objects and providing oral information. Must have the ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period and to be physically present and at assigned work with only infrequent unexcused absences during the contract year. Additional technical skills knowledge and abilities may be recommended by immediate supervisor and approved by the Human Resources Director.
