What were looking for:
We are looking for a highly talented Software Development Manager to help build fast scalable robust systems to crystalize and execute this vision. The successful candidate is expected to be a hands-on technical manager who understands and sets a high bar for all phases of the software development life-cycle while hiring coaching developing and growing a team of engineers. We seek someone with an insatiable curiosity and appetite for learning who can build and nurture an AI-native engineering team capable of leveraging emerging AI technologies in our solutions. Your ability to foster a culture of innovation and adaptability will be key as we integrate AI throughout our engineering practices.


Key job responsibilities
- Manage a team of software engineers including their projects performance and career growth
- Communicate project roadmaps with your team management and principal stakeholders
- Work with peer managers to scope and estimate development effort
- Facilitate systems design architecture and scaling discussions
- Advocate for the right outcomes with data conviction and diplomacy
- Deliver innovative customer experience for world-wide customers
- Hire and mentor highly talented engineers

A day in the life
- Interact with leaders from product and/or other partner tech teams for conceptualizing scoping and/or planning delivery.
- Manage project planning task break-down delivery and track status with your team
- Communicate delivery status to stakeholders
- Contribute to the vision goals and technical strategy in alignment with customer needs and market opportunities.
- Mentor engineers provide leadership on complex technical issues design trade-offs and feature and schedule prioritization.
- Innovate on behalf of customer

- 3 years of engineering team management experience
- 7 years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3 years of designing or architecting (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 8 years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing certification and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams

- Experience in communicating with users other technical teams and senior leadership to collect requirements describe software product features technical designs and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting hiring mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
