Summary of the Role
As an Associate Director Data Science at Firstsource you will play a crucial role in developing and optimizing advanced machine learning algorithms particularly in the realm of natural language processing. You will engage in data analysis model development and experimentations while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure that our solutions meet industry-specific needs and maintain ethical standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Analysis and Preprocessing: Analyze and preprocess diverse datasets relevant to the mortgage industry ensuring data quality and relevance for model training.
- Model Development and Fine-Tuning: Research and implement state-of-the-art NLP models focusing on pre-training as well as instruction tuning for domain-specific applications. Utilize techniques like RLHF to improve model alignment with human preferences.
- Algorithm Implementation: Develop and optimize machine learning algorithms to enhance model performance accuracy and efficiency. Experiment with different architectures to identify the best fit for project requirements.
- Collaboration: Work with domain experts to incorporate industry knowledge into model development ensuring outputs are relevant and actionable.
- Experimentation: Conduct experiments to validate model hypotheses analyze results and iterate on model improvements.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of methodologies experiments and results to support transparency and reproducibility.
- Ethics and Bias Mitigation: Ensure responsible AI practices by identifying potential biases in data and models and implementing mitigation strategies.
Required Qualifications
Must-Have
- Strong background in machine learning deep learning and NLP.
- Proficiency in Python and experience with ML frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
- Experience with NLP frameworks and libraries (e.g. Hugging Face Transformers).
- Hands-on experience in fine-tuning large language models (LLMs) for domain-specific tasks.
- Proficiency in handling large datasets feature engineering and statistical analysis.
- Strong analytical skills for solving complex problems using data-driven approaches.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice-to-Have
- Masters or Ph.D. in Data Science Computer Science Statistics or a related field.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS Azure) for scalable computing solutions.
- Understanding of ethical considerations in AI development including bias detection and mitigation.

Additional Information
- Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in LLM fine-tuning.
- 10-14 years of overall experience in machine learning or a related field.
- Budget for this role is 45 48 LPA (CTC).
