Job Description

Deputy Childrens Home Manager West Midlands

Location: West Midlands
Contract: Full-time
Shifts: Flexible (including some evenings weekends and on-call duties)

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Deputy Childrens Home Manager to join our Ofsted-regulated home in the West Midlands. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people while developing your leadership and management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home ensuring full compliance with Ofsted regulations and the Childrens Homes (England) Regulations 2015
  • Lead motivate and develop the staff team to deliver safe nurturing and therapeutic care
  • Act as a role model promoting positive outcomes and independence for children and young people with EBD trauma and complex needs
  • Oversee care planning risk assessments and incident reporting ensuring high-quality record-keeping and adherence to safeguarding standards
  • Participate in recruitment induction supervision and staff appraisals
  • Deputise for the Registered Manager in their absence ensuring smooth running of the home
  • Support with inspections audits and quality assurance processes
  • Maintain excellent relationships with local authorities social workers and other stakeholders

Requirements

  • Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (or equivalent) essential
  • Working towards or willing to complete Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management within 18 months essential
  • Minimum 2 years experience working in a residential childrens home (EBD/LD/MH) essential
  • Previous experience in a Senior / Team Leader / Shift Leader role essential
  • Strong knowledge of Ofsted requirements Quality Standards and safeguarding procedures
  • Excellent leadership communication and decision-making skills
  • Ability to manage rotas staffing levels and care plans effectively
  • Full UK driving licence highly desirable
