Roblox is looking for a communications professional to help lead media engagement focused on Robloxs Trust & Safety efforts in the United States and Canada.
As a member of the Global Communications and Corporate Affairs team you will lead proactive media engagement and communications focused on Robloxs Trust & Safety efforts a key priority for the company. This is a strategic hands-on communications role: youll craft strategy initiatives and key narratives that you will amplify in media across key audiences build relationships with national and local press covering safety and technology and work closely with policy product marketing legal and communications teams to translate complex technical and policy work into clear compelling messages for media and the public.
You should be passionate about our mission the community Roblox serves and the safety issues Roblox needs to address. You should have a good understanding of consumer technology/social media online safety content enforcement privacy and policy.
This position reports into the Sr. Policy Communications Director and is based in San Mateo CA (hybrid structure with 3 days onsite per week Tues/Wed/Thurs).
You will:
- Develop and execute a proactive media strategy and initiatives that highlight Robloxs proactive efforts and innovations across product and partnerships in the U.S. and Canada that reaches key audiences including parents policymakers and developers.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with national regional and local reporters who cover platform safety childrens online safety and tech policy etc.
- Create high-quality communications assets: press releases op-eds bylines media advisories FAQs blog posts and pitch decks.
- Serve as primary contact for U.S. and Canada press for proactive safety campaigns; coordinate briefings embargoed announcements reporter Q&As and on-the-record engagements.
- Prepare and coach spokespeople (executives product leads policy experts) for interviews briefings and public appearances.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Trust & Safety Public Policy Product Legal Data Science Marketing Developer Relationships and other communications teams such as international consumer and internal.
- Manage relationships with external agencies as needed to amplify campaigns and scale outreach.
- Measure impact and report on earned media performance message pull-through sentiment and key media KPIs; refine strategy using insights.
- Identify and secure speaking podcast and other content opportunities for thought leadership.
You have:
- 10 years of experience in communications ideally including significant experience in a technology company.
- Proven-track record developing and implementing proactive communications plans aligning internal external and partner communications against business priorities.
- Meticulous and detail-oriented project manager skills who works autonomously and never misses a deadline.
- Demonstrated track record of securing high-impact national media coverage on complex safety policy or technical topics.
- Strong relationships with key journalists and influencers who cover tech safety and policy issues.
- Experience as on the record spokesperson and communicator on complex topics including safety topics.
- Skilled writer who knows how to adopt the voice of different executives and of the company overall through succinct informative and engaging written communications.
- Confident counselor to senior executives who is comfortable pushing back and sharing a POV and also knowing when to disagree and commit.
- Creative thinker who enjoys trying new things iterating and innovating.
- A self-starter who enjoys working autonomously while also ensuring that you are always bringing team members and key stakeholders along in the process.
- Thrive in a fast-paced and fluid environment and are comfortable with a high degree of change.
