Your Purpose:

The Design and Engineering Practitioners Professional Indemnity (DEP PI) Underwriting Manager is responsible for the development execution and financial performance of the DEP product. This role involves building the product and executing strategies managing an underwriting team and driving profitable growth within the DEP PI market. The position requires close collaboration with various internal teams and external vendors to ensure the product is competitive profitable and meets market needs.

This role involves two distinct phases: Phase 1 focuses on building the product and channel from the ground up including activities such as influencing the strategy target market appetite and coverage working with pricing to build the algorithm collaborating with the project squad (including technology build) driving promotional efforts and recruiting underwriters. Phase 2 transitions to managing and scaling the product post-launch overseeing underwriters and driving ongoing product management and growth.

What youll do:

• Deliver and continually improve the DEP product strategies (including but not limited to target markets/key brokers product differentiation appetite UW execution strategy risk engineering technology etc)
• Define and execute a cohesive underwriting plan and value proposition for intermediaries aligned with the overall product strategy
• Execute on the go-to-market proposition and distribution strategy for DEP focusing on partners with the highest growth potential
• Work closely with Vero Specialty Lines (VSL) and the broader team to ensure strategic alignment across underwriting distribution and product management
• Provide expertise into the technology build in collaboration with the technology team and external vendors ensuring the infrastructure supports product growth market fit and scalability.

What you will bring:

• At least 10 years commercial experience in Design and Engineering Practitioners PI (or equivalent Construction PI)
• Proven experience in leading and developing teams in the insurance with a focus on product development strategy underwriting and financial performance
• Strong understanding of intermediary markets underwriting principles and insurance products particularly in DEP PI
• Experience in building and implementing underwriting guidelines delegated authorities and profit and loss management processes
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with technology vendors and internal teams to define and build technology solutions that support business goals
• Knowledge of reinsurance strategy and pricing algorithms.
