Under the supervision of the Facilities Operations Manager the Assistant Operations Manager performs district-based duties and supervisory work in the planning organizing training coordinating and directing of all activities of a multiple site housekeeping and custodial unit within the county.

Contract Unit: This position is part of the supervisory support services bargaining unit.

QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in an administrative capacity coordinating multiple projects managing multiple people team building skills and working with outside agencies.
Thorough knowledge of cleaning materials supplies and equipmet.
Thorough knowledge about building fixtures and equipment.
Ability to express ideas clearly both orally and in writing.
Ability to plan train and supervise the work of subordinates in a manner conductive to full performance and high morale.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school officials and associates.
Ability to read write and follow complex instructions; to use business mathematics and basic computer skills.
Ability to maintain thorough working knowledge and training of general custodial duties including all aspects of cleaning and operation of custodial equipment.
Ability to use a computer and a wide variety of commercially available software. Ability to prepare master weekly and daily work schedules.
Ability to exercise independent judgement to adopt or modify methods and standards to meet variations in assigned objectives.
Good interpersonal communication skills
Ability to adjust to flexible work schedule and react to change productively.
Valid drivers license.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists in preparing coding maps and plans and implementing custodial work schedules.
Gives directions to Building Service Managers Assistant Building Service Managers and Team Leaders who have crews reporting to them.
Performs school site inspections for the purpose of ensuring compliance with and adherence to custodial work schedules and applicable policies regulations laws and procedures and reports findings to Manager of Operations.
Provides training and instruction to custodial personnel in safe use and application of chemical cleaning and sanitizing supplies; ensures compliance with established regulatory standards (MOSH).
Prepares and conducts custodial training courses for part-time night and substitute custodians.
Assists the Operations Manager in monitoring materials inventory and supply levels orders new stock according to established policies.
Functions on call to address emergencies and/or critical conditions that would prevent a school from opening i.e. vandalism fires flooding snow removal.
Prepares and/or reviews various records and documentation applicable to the work i.e. inspection reports equipment logs work schedules training reports equipment and product specifications.
Directs and assigns custodial crews in special custodial projects i.e. gym floor maintenance preparing for building occupancy after new construction or renovation.
Apprises the Facility Operations Manager of findings of night inspections and any relevant special concerns.
Conducts routine reviews of employee performance; recommends personnel actions such as hiring promoting or disciplining.
Must provide a cell phone for use on the job for which the employee will receive a stipend.
