Job Summary

Chief Program Officer Leads and manages the Nebraska Bankers Association (NBA) Voluntary Employees Benefits Association (VEBA) employee benefit programs which cooperatively provide employee benefits programs to 130 Nebraska-based banks. Currently available benefits include health dental vision life disability accident critical incident and hospital indemnity insurance products.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensures NBA VEBA offers competitively priced high-quality products in a rapidly evolving insurance and health care marketplace
  • Develops both short and long-term strategies that allow NBA VEBA to remain a preferred choice of Nebraska-based banks for employee benefit programs and works to ensure the long-term viability of the health trust
  • Proactively manages relationships and communications with NBA/NBISCO staff insurance companies technology vendors Nebraska bankers and other stakeholders
  • Plans and coordinates meetings of the VEBA Board of Trustees in cooperation with NBA/NBISCO team members and vendors
  • Makes formal presentations to the VEBA Board of Trustees related to program impacts results and outcomes
  • Maintains a high level of customer service with participating bank members and their employees
  • Leads and supervises a team of professionals in carrying out the mission of the NBA VEBA programs
  • Regularly researches and analyzes current and future program offerings
  • Works with outside counsel Board Members VEBA staff and bank members to ensure compliance with federal state and local regulations
  • Strong ability to ask questions collect both qualitative and quantitative data and use this information to drive results
  • Performs other duties as necessary to support job function and to fulfill the NBA VEBA mission
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelors degree in human resources business or a related field; additional training and certifications preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in health insurance and employee benefits
  • Deep knowledge of benefits regulations market trends and best practices
  • Proven track record of strategic thinking innovation and operational excellence
  • Maintains or can acquire all required insurance licenses
  • Proven supervisory experience
  • Modern computer skills to include the Microsoft Suite various AI platforms databases and social media platforms
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Occasional light to moderate lifting/carrying of boxes
  • Ability to drive and maintain a Nebraska drivers license
  • Ability to occasionally work hours outside of a traditional 8-5 environment
