Job Title: Professional Diesel Mechanic
Summary
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team responsible for servicing repairing and maintaining diesel-powered vehicles and equipment across various sectors. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background excellent diagnostic skills and the ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced workshop environment.
Responsibilities
Diagnose faults in diesel engines and related systems including fuel exhaust cooling transmission and electrical systems
Repair rebuild or replace components such as fuel injectors turbochargers cooling systems filters and starters
Perform scheduled servicing including oil changes coolant flushes and filter replacements
Maintain and repair vehicle and equipment electrical systems and controls
Conduct inspections and safety/emission compliance checks
Use diagnostic tools software and testing equipment
Maintain a clean and safe workshop environment and ensure proper handling of hazardous materials
Collaborate with team members and supervisors and liaise with clients on repairs and cost estimates
Requirements
Relevant trade certificate or diploma in Diesel Mechanics Heavy Automotive Mechanical Engineering Technician or similar
Formal training or apprenticeship in mechanical or diesel systems preferred
At least 2-4 years experience working on diesel engines/vehicles/equipment
Experience in diagnostics repair and rebuilding of heavy vehicle or industrial machinery
Strong technical/mechanical aptitude and good understanding of engine systems electrical hydraulic transmission etc.
Proficient in using diagnostic tools and interpreting technical diagrams
Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
Physically fit and able to handle heavy parts work in workshops possibly at heights or confined spaces
Good safety awareness and ability to adhere to safety emissions and environmental regulations
Good communication skills and ability to explain issues to clients or team
English language proficiency (PTE or IELTS certification required)
Benefits
Indicative pay: Starting from NZD $31.61 per hour (as per INZ median wage requirement)
