Job Title: Manager of Seniors Programs
Supervisor: Vice-President Programs and Strategic Initiatives
Supervisory Responsibilities: None Currently
Status: Full-time - Exempt
Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Social Work Gerontology Public Health Nonprofit Management or a related field and/or two years related work experience. Strong speaking and interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational ability and strong administrative skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize accordingly. Strong skills required in Microsoft Word and Excel. Supervision skills required. Demonstrated commitment to the Food Banks mission. A valid NYS drivers license.
Position Summary: As the Manager of Seniors Programs you will play a crucial role in the development and daily implementation of all aspects of programming. Your work will directly impact the lives of seniors increasing equitable opportunities and food access. This includes using our direct distribution model and developing new ways to provide seniors with the food they need and the methods they need it in. You will also be responsible for ongoing assessment of the needs of our senior population.
Physical Requirements: This position works in a typical office setting but may be exposed to extreme temperatures in a warehouse setting. There may be extended periods of sitting standing and/or bending listening talking and/or visual concentration writing and/or computer use. This position would normally have routine opportunities for the employee to be able to alter their physical position or change eye focus. The position may requires driving a cargo van and lifting and stacking of boxes weighing up to 50 pounds
Duties and Responsibilities:
- In conjunction with the VP Programs and Strategic Initiatives the incumbent will identify communities (senior housing assisted living facilities retirement communities senior dense areas etc.) that may benefit from direct deliveries and other foodbank-related programs.
- Oversee the daily operations of senior-focused food distribution initiatives.
- Develop and manage program budgets ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
- Conduct assessments to identify the needs of senior clients and tailor services accordingly.
- Provide direct support and referrals to additional services and resources as needed.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with senior neighbors ensuring their feedback informs program improvements.
- Collaborate with local agencies senior centers healthcare providers and other community organizations to expand the reach and impact of senior programs.
- Maintain accurate program participation records outcomes and client interactions.
- Prepare and submit monthly/quarterly reports on program performance impact and areas for improvement.
- Place orders that align with the nutritional/cultural needs of clients.
- In conjunction with marketing/communications develop program materials and advertise program availability.
Other duties:
- Works independently and collaboratively in a team environment and with other employees and departments. Develops and maintains a deep understanding of our employees and the culture in support of the mission of the Food Bank.
- Maintains a clean and safe workspace.
- Follows all safety standards and procedures.
- Adheres to the Food Banks Employee Code of Conduct.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
