The Membership Specialist plays a vital role in the Membership team by actively promoting and selling memberships processing transactions accurately and delivering excellent customer service. This position serves as a key frontline contact for visitors helping to grow and maintain the Museums membership base. Reports to the Associate Director of Membership.
Key Responsibilities
- Work either in the Membership Lounge or at the Museum gates on weekends and busy periods to promote and sell memberships to visitors
- Work in a CRM database daily looking up records creating new records and searching for information
- Work collaboratively within the department to fulfill card requests guest passes and generate digital membership cards
- Process new memberships renewals and upgrades efficiently and accurately
- Actively promote programmatic ticket sales new memberships renewals and upgrades
- Provide clear and engaging information about membership benefits programs and special events
- Respond promptly and professionally to membership inquiries via phone email and in person
- Maintain accurate membership records and ensure timely data entry in CRM (Tessitura)
- Collaborate with other Museum departments including Visitor Services to ensure a seamless and positive experience for members
- Support on-site logistics for membership-related activities and events
- Uphold all Museum policies and deliver a high standard of customer service
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Previous sales or customer service experience preferred ideally in a museum retail or hospitality setting
- Ability to work on weekends
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Comfortable working with the public and handling multiple transactions efficiently
- Proficiency in Tessitura (or a similar CRM platform) preferred
- Detail-oriented with good organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
