Utilise your water modelling skills to contribute to floodplain management throughout NSW
The Water Group leads the NSW Government in providing confidence to communities and stakeholders with the transparent stewardship of water resources provision of services and reforms that support sustainable and healthy environments economies and societies across NSW.
The Floodplain Assessments team are seeking to appoint a Water Modeller in a full-time temporary capacity to 30 June 2028 with the chance of further extension.
The Water Modeller plans and undertakes hydrologic and hydraulic analysis using statistical and model simulation techniques for the purpose of informing floodplain management policy and planning in NSW.
The Water Modeller may be required to undertake Intra-state travel from time to time.
About You
You are a technically adept and solutions-focused professional with expertise in hydrologic and hydraulic modelling catchment processes spatial analysis and related disciplines. Your ability to deliver fit-for-purpose models under tight timelines particularly for floodplain management demonstrates both precision and agility in high-demand environments.
You bring a critical eye to data and modelling outputs understanding their strengths and limitations in the context of natural resource management. Your experience ensures that analytical results are not only scientifically sound but also tailored to inform decisions. Youre confident in assessing model suitability and translating complex findings into actionable insights.
Clear communication is one of your strengths. You excel at simplifying technical concepts for diverse audiences crafting concise reports that support policy development and stakeholder engagement. Your work bridges the gap between science and strategy.
With a strong grasp of the NSW Governments water or environmental management agenda you align your modelling efforts with broader environmental goals. You thrive in dynamic multidisciplinary settings where technical policy and scientific developments intersect and you consistently deliver work that is relevant impactful and clearly informs stakeholders.
