What you will do at Harris County Precinct 4:

Harris County Precinct 4 is seeking a dedicated and motivated Community Center Assistant Manager to help lead the daily operations at Steve Radack Community Center. This role supports the Community Center Manager in ensuring the center remains a welcoming safe and engaging place for all visitors. The Assistant Manager plays a vital role in delivering high-quality programs fostering community partnerships and upholding our core values of Heart Hustle and Higher Standards in every interaction.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the Community Center Manager in overseeing day-to-day operations and serve as acting manager in their absence when designated.
  • Supervise coach and schedule administrative and facilities assistants to ensure effective team performance.
  • Help create and maintain a welcoming safe and inclusive environment for participants of all ages.
  • Assist with developing planning implementing and evaluating recreational educational and cultural programs.
  • Lead classes workshops or programs as needed to support center offerings.
  • Build and sustain positive relationships with participants fostering a sense of belonging and community.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with organizations that provide workshops classes programs and special events.
  • Maintain accurate records reports and program data to support center operations.
  • Communicate Precinct 4 programs resources and initiatives to participants in a clear and positive manner.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities including training on safety leadership and program development.
  • Assist with facility setup breakdown and cleanliness when needed ensuring operational excellence.
  • Attend meetings with department leadership and provide updates as requested.
  • Serve as part of the front-line response team during natural disasters severe weather or other emergency events supporting community needs and coordinating resources as directed.
  • Support evening and weekend programs to ensure adequate staff coverage during operating hours.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of center and precinct-wide goals.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

  • Three (3) years of professional related community center or customer service experience

OR:

  • Some college or an associates degree from an accredited college or university
  • Two (2) years of professional related community center or customer service experience

With:

  • One (1) year in a supervisory or managerial role

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook).

Licensure:

  • Valid Texas drivers license with a good driving record.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and engage effectively with participants staff and partners.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Flexible and adaptable with the ability to work evenings weekends or at multiple locations as needed.
  • Self-motivated reliable and able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrates honesty integrity respect and sound work ethics.

Preferences

Experience:

  • Two (2) or more years of supervisory or managerial experience preferably in a community center recreation or customer-service-oriented environment. (preferred)

  • Familiarity with reservation and program management systems (e.g. ActiveNet) and basic design tools (e.g. Canva)(preferred)
  • Experience in developing evaluating or leading community-based programs.(preferred)

Language:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) (preferred)

General Information

Position Type Salary and Typical Hours of Work:

  • Regular Full-time 40 hours per week

  • May be required to work evenings and/or weekends to ensure staff coverage during the Centers operating hours.
