POSITION OVERVIEW
The role of the Student Success Specialist is to perform a variety of program wide duties that assist with the overall care and safety of children. The Student Success Specialist will assist in the supervision of children instruction of children and provide assistance to program staff in effectively achieving the Department of Early Learning and Care and Office of Child Care standards and guidelines.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsibilities and duties may vary but the essential job duties will include the following:
Establish and maintain a positive and effective working relationship with all school staff caregivers and the public;
- Communicate needs of children to caregivers and to staff as needed;
- Assist in the supervision and instruction of individual children and groups of children;
- Assist in the sanitation and preparation of child specific developmental learning areas includingbut not limited to the classroom play areas gymnasium equipment outdoor play structures and equipment meal and/or snack areas;
- Assist in the feeding toileting physical care health needs and safety of all children;
- Assist in the application of child management procedures;
- Assist in the recording and maintaining of child performance data;
- Assist in the preparation of instructional and other materials;
- Work closely with district nursing staff to ensure medically fragile students are appropriatelycared for;
- Assist with safe supervision of children in the office and throughout the school;
- Administer approved medications and first aid to sick and/or injured children;
- Assist and/or orient volunteers and new site personnel regarding school and district practices;
- Keep student information confidential;
- Assist with meal/ snack preparation;
- Under the direction of the classroom teacher assist children in reaching developmentalmilestones;
- Under the direction of the classroom teacher work with small groups of children to reinforce theclassroom program;
- Clerical and record keeping tasks necessary to support the documentation required by theProgram;
- Perform a variety of duties necessary to ensure the smooth operation of the school including but not limited to answering calls relaying parent messages to appropriate staff and assisting with scheduling parent appointments;
- Assist with the preparation and delivery of family events.
