The Role

The School of Architecture Planning and Landscape are hiring for a Learning and Teaching Assistant to work within our Learning and Teaching Team.

The School offer a range of undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes as well Postgraduate Research programmes across the Architecture Planning and Landscape disciplines. You would be working closely with the Degree Programme Director as well as with a host of academic staff from across these three disciplines.

The role provides administrative support that includes a variety of different tasks such as communicating with academics students and University staff as well as managing daily office tasks. Further key duties can be found below.

Key Accountabilities

  • To provide administrative support to the learning and teaching functions of the School to the Director of Education (DoE) and to the wider Learning & Teaching Team as requested
  • Responsible for inputting amendments to annual documentation such as modules and regulations
  • You will be responsible for tasks associated with ensuring the accurate updating of modules regulations timetables handbooks module/stage evaluations PEC (Personal and Extenuating Circumstances) assignments/examinations Boards of Studies/Boards of Examiners discipline meetings in course administration and student progress (amongst other duties
  • To provide administrative support to the visiting Boards of the Schools professional accrediting bodies undertaking annual statistical returns and providing other data and documentation as required
  • Responsible for checking and updating student data using University systems
  • Support leadership with relevant tasks
  • Responsible for receipt and collation of assessments from academic colleagues for tracking assessed work out for marking and chasing to ensure it is processed within expected addition transcribing or uploading marks to relevant University systems i.e. NESS Canvas NU Reflect
  • You will have responsibility for ensuring an effective and professional service with high levels of accuracy - providing comprehensive administrative support for programmes within the School to ensure that School Faculty and University policies deadlines and standards are met
  • To provide support for the Schools Admissions queries and processes as well as programme and University open days where required
  • Any other duties within the scope and general nature of the grade which may be required

The Person

Knowledge Skills and Experience

  • Proficient skills in both numeracy and standard IT packages
  • Clear oral and written communication skills with good attention to detail along with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Be well organised and able to work flexibly and co-operatively with a team including the ability to set priorities and understand the priorities of colleagues
  • Experience of working in a busy administrative environment

  • Have effective time management skills and able to work in a planned and structure manner
  • Complete enquiries and requests from other departments accurately through a variety of communication tools as well as being able to choose the appropriate method of communication for a range of tasks

  • Keeps the team up to date with progress on shared tasks and informs others of any relevant and useful information

Qualifications

  • Grades A-C in English Language and Mathematics GCSE (or equivalent) or vocational qualifications plus work experience in a relevant role or setting
