Job Summary

What is special about this opportunity

George Street supports young people predominantly between the ages of 16-18 who have typically led very difficult lives. Often theyve spent their childhood and adolescence in Local Authority care experiencing many changes of home environment including different residential and foster homes.

The people we support are all Care Leavers who have involvement with Social Services. Many have experienced significant trauma brought on by abuse and neglect in early years. As a result we work with young people who display a range of complex behaviours including attachment disorders personality disorders self-harm and parasuicide risk taking behaviour alcohol and substance misuse and offending behaviour.

Day to day duties include:

  • Oversee the running of the service including health and safety on-going maintenance and neighbour relationships.
  • Be responsible for the management of all staff including regular supervisions training and development HR procedures and recruitment and induction
  • Be responsible for the annual budget and monitoring the services income
  • Ensure that advice is given on welfare rights permanent housing options and other associated information according to the needs and wishes of the clients.
  • Ensure that clients receive resettlement advice as and when appropriate to address their move-on needs.
  • Monitor the service and produce and amend procedures as appropriate
  • Build relationships and liaise with local neighbourhoods businesses commissioners and council

Skills & Experience requirements

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team
  • Produce concise accurate written reports
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and collaborate effectively with customers staff and community partners
  • Knowledge of homelessness issues and Young People
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Psychological Environment framework

What are the pay and benefits

  • Full-time 6 month fixed-term
  • Competitive salary of 31182.00
  • Work pattern: predominantly Monday Friday 9-5 although flexibility is required due to the needs of the service
