Job Summary

Category Assistant

Howdens a leading FTSE100 company are looking for a Category Assistant to join our fantastic Commercial Team and support the Sinks and Taps Category to source and deliver a market leading range of products enabling growth and profitability while providing a value-added service to the Depots.

The team works in office together 4 days a week with 1 day spent at home. Based at our modern offices in Raunds commutable locations include Northampton Kettering Wellingborough Huntingdon and Bedford.

What will I be doing as a Category Assistant

  • Work alongside Depots ensuring they are adding the most value. Creating and communicating product information that is appropriate and fit for purpose
  • Understand the needs of the builder customer and depot becoming a category expert
  • Supporting the management of product ranges in line with the business commercial planning cycle
  • Ensure strong commercial relationships between Howdens the category supply base and internal stakeholders
  • Prepare and pull together information for key internal and external meetings.
  • Project manage new product introduction (NPI) and sourcing activities

What we need from you

  • Previous experience within a Commercial role ideally in a Retail Buying Product or Category team.
  • Strong data management and analysis skills (MS Excel)
  • Excellent ability to build relationships across the business and with suppliers
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Project management skills

It would be desirable if you also had:

  • Experience within the home improvement sector
