A Brief Overview

Responsible for providing professional human resource direction on the benefit programs to the various Avera locations. This position is responsible for managing employee benefit plans for Avera and supports the HR team effort to meet the Human Resources needs of all employees vendors and applicants. Analyzes and evaluates services coverage and options available to determine programs best meeting the needs of Avera and makes recommendations for benefit plan changes to leadership. Advises and assists employees with enrollment and utilization of various employee benefit programs.

What you will do

  • Designs administers and evaluates Averas employee benefit programs such as health dental life Long Term Care and Long Term Disability flexible spending and all other voluntary benefits.
  • Promotes the Avera benefits program by effectively educating current and newly benefits eligible employees.
  • Continuously reviewing communication methods and progressively moving forward on process improvement ideas.
  • Handles benefit plan inquiries and complaints that arise through the research of records for information relating to status changes payroll and benefit information to ensure timely and equitable courteous resolution. Brings closure to inquiries through research of records relating to the benefit plans in a timely courteous resolution and involves leader when appropriate.
  • Responsible for keeping all benefit accounts up-to-date and administered accurately and timely. Maintains insurance accounts.
  • Works closely with payroll to insure proper administration of benefit withholdings and practices.
  • Audits benefit plans for compliance with governmental regulations.
  • Promotes the Avera benefits program by providing prompt and courteous customer service to employees and leaders throughout the organization.
  • Provides reports and analysis to HR Leaders upon request or refers to HR Solutions Analyst as appropriate. Maintains a variety of records and reports compiling statistical and accounting information as requested.
  • Responsible for maintaining excellent customer service to all Avera staff regarding benefit inquiries and other human resources inquires.

Preferred Education License/Certification or Work Experience:

  • Bachelors in Human Resources or Business related field.
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) - Human Resource Standards Institute (HRCI) or
  • Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) - Human Resource Standards Institute (HRCI) or
  • SHRM-Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) - Society For Human Resource Management (SHRM)
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience performing benefits and/or leave administration within the human resources function is required in a healthcare setting
