Role Overview :

As an SDM Backend Engineering you will be responsible for maintaining and elevating the bar of engineering excellence. This includes setting up growth paths and structure for the team and establishing best practices to ensure efficient functioning.

You will manage the engineering charter for teams under the Global Tech Operations Organisation (GOT). GOT oversees the post-order journey for customers everything that happens in the lifecycle of an order after payment is made. This includes teams across Warehousing Transportation Customer Returns Seller Settlement Finance Engineering Fraud Detection Labour Force Management and more.

You will collaborate with stakeholders across engineering product and business functions to define and enable the next phase of evolution for the products owned by the team. This specific role involves leading and managing the One Payroll Engineering Organization.

Additionally this role plays a vital part in building the Coupang India Technology Centre establishing the right practices and culture and managing a multi-geography team. You will also have managers from other regions reporting to you.

What You Will Do :

• Experience as people manager and passionate towards building and growing a high performing engineering team.
• Proficient in System Design Design patterns database structure Database design etc. Experience with backend technologies and distributed systems.
• Identify opportunities to make disruptive improvements with existing architecture and partner with senior architecture and product to build roadmap and long term vision.
• Possess expert knowledge in performance (sub millisecond latencies) scalability availability (99.999% uptime) enterprise architecture best practices.
• Exert technical influence over multiple teams increasing their productivity and effectiveness by sharing your deep knowledge and experience.
• Strong problem-solving skills analytical capabilities and attention to details.
• Collaborate with customers stakeholders and lead engineers on key mission-critical projects.

Basic Qualifications :

• Bachelors degree and/or Masters degree in Computer Science or equivalent with 12 years experience in Software Engineering.
• 5 years of people management experience.
• Excellent cross-group collaboration outstanding verbal and written communication.

Type of Work Model :

Hybrid - Coupang hybrid work model is designed to enable a culture of collaboration that acts a catalyst to enrich the experience of employees. Employees are required to work at least 3 days in the office per week with the flexibility to work from home 2 days a week depending on the role requirement. Some businesses may require more time in office due to nature of work.
