About the Role
We currently have a vacancy for a Registered Nurse for our Maternity Ward at Southland Hospital on a casual basis.
In this role you will be using your valuable nursing experience to provide the best possible care to new parents and pēpi as they set out on their new parenting journey. If you have an interest in working within a maternity setting and a passion for womens health this is the kind of opportunity that doesnt come along every day!
This role is covered by the terms and conditions of the NZNO Nursing & Midwifery Collective Agreement and falls between Step 1 ($75773) pro rata and Step 7 ($106739) pro rata p.a.

Southern Midwifery support a very diverse maternity community spread across of the region providing care to whanau in urban rural and remote areas of Southern region. To achieve our maternity and broader population health goals we work in partnership with Iwi primary care and community providers rural trust hospitals and education and research partners across the district.
Here at Southland Hospital we operate an 18-bed integrated unit handling approximately 1200 births a year as part of a full range of primary and secondary maternity services. As the only secondary birthing unit in Southland weoffer inpatient and outpatient antenatal delivery and postnatal services and a Lactation Consultancy Service. Our brand of care and compassion involves a very special blend of strength compassion and cool headedness from our midwives who welcome our babies into the world.
About you
We are looking for an experienced NZ Registered Nurse with a real desire to work with postnatal people and pēpi at this life changing time. Ideally you will have experience working with whānau preferably within a maternity or paediatric setting. Breast-feeding experience would be great but is not essential as training will be given. You will be provided with support on each shift as you work under the direction and delegation of a Registered Midwife.
