Job Summary

Core Responsibilities

1. Serves as a recognized subject matter expert in investment stewardship. Maintains a high level of expertise by participating in industry events and researching current events as well as maintaining expertise in sector coverage areas and corporate governance topics.

2. Leads direct engagement conversations with senior officials from funds portfolio companies to discuss corporate governance matters including board composition and effectiveness oversight of strategy and risk executive compensation and shareholder rights.

3. Utilizes company disclosures third-party research and other available information to develop and present proxy voting recommendations aligned with Vanguard-advised funds proxy voting guidelines.

4. Oversees investment stewardship activities including proxy voting and engagement to advise peers and divisional leadership on key stewardship issues in an effort to enhance policies practices and the long-term value of the funds investments.

5. Plays a critical role in maintaining strong working relationships and presenting high impact analyses findings and recommendations; communicates effectively with senior external and internal stakeholders including senior staff.

6. Leads projects across various divisions of the global organization to ensure that project objectives are met and high-quality outcomes are delivered.

7. Mentors and coaches other crew members to support the advancement of individual crew members as well as team-wide development.

8. Contributes to internal training on Vanguards global Investment Stewardship program. Ensures that new policies and/or procedures are communicated in a clear concise manner.

9. Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum of eight years related work experience investment management and/or analysis experience preferred.
Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred.
