The Special Education Teacher provides high-quality instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs. This role involves creating and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) aligned with New York State regulations collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Collect and analyze student performance data to inform instruction and progress monitoring.
- Provide direct instruction to students based on their unique learning needs goals and accommodations.
- Utilize evidence-based instructional methods to support academic behavioral and social-emotional growth.
- Develop implement and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with NYSED guidelines.
- Adapt curriculum materials instructional strategies and assessments to ensure access and meaningful participation.
- Stay up-to-date with NYSED special education regulations best practices and professional learning requirements.
- Collaborate with general education teachers related service providers administrators and families to support student success.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will hold a minimum of a Bachelors degree and a valid New York State Special Education Teaching Certificate from an accredited institution. Professional Certification is highly preferred and will distinguish applicants in the selection process. Prior experience working with special populations is also strongly preferred.
