SCHOOL SUCCESS TEACHER AT 5/6 Building

Qualifications:

• Michigan Elementary Teacher Certification
• At least 4 years of successful teaching
• Ability to work collaboratively and successfully with parents/guardians of students
• Ability to build and maintain appropriate solid relationships with students
• A willingness to commit to ongoing professional development
• Successful experience in working with students with pervasive persistent behavioral needs.
• Possess the skill needed to analyze problems or concerns develop alternative approaches to these and make reasonable decisions that fall within the policy and standard practices of the district.
• Ability to work under pressure to diffuse situations and demonstrate confidentiality for students.

• Provide targeted academic and behavioral intervention services to identified students.
• Assist teachers with academic and social/emotional curriculum to support student achievement.
• Serve as a resource to teachers in areas of improving academic and behavioral instruction for all identified students.
• Deescalate situations and provide students with time to think about their choices create a plan to help make things better and restore relationships.
• Contact parents/guardians as appropriate.
• Train staff on behavior interventions restorative practices and the use of behavior support resources.
• Collect and analyze student data to create classroom learning environments that assure learning.
• Work collaboratively with the building administrator to make sure staff and students are provided with opportunities to work through conflicts productively.
• Engage families as appropriate in the problem-solving process or inform them of consequences for the student.
• Serve as a resource to classroom teachers in the area of improving academic achievement in the core curriculum areas.
