OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE:
The Technology Support Specialist assists in the management of day-to-day operations facilitates staff development activities and oversees web-related projects. The Technology Support Specialist performs work of a highly technical and specific nature often in confined or difficult environments and normally under limited supervision.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists in the supervision and maintenance of the District network personal computers and related peripheral tech equipment.
- Assists in the development and implementation of a plan to facilitate faculty integration of technology into the curriculum including software evaluation. Works with technology integrators to provide seamless integration of software packages with network and individual equipment. Loads and maintains all software onto personal laptops and building computers.
- Responsible for tracking down and resolving issues related to either hardware or software for district desktop and laptop computers.
- Assists in the development and implementation of technology-related staff development activities related to hardware and software use.
- Evaluates all hardware and /or software issues and takes or recommends appropriate corrective action.
- Works with the school SROs in maintaining security cameras and servers and retrieving files from security servers at the request of the SROs.
- Evaluates upgrade requests and plan perform or direct appropriate action.
- Installs and maintains software at the workstation and the server.
- Assists in the development and maintenance of hardware and software inventories.
- Performs those duties for enabling or disabling student accounts based on disciplinary decisions by the administrative staff.
- Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the technology systems supervisor may assign from time to time to include an inventory update of the entire district technology inventory each summer to ensure compliance with licensing.
- Aids in budget development.
- Contacts vendors to secure bids for equipment being purchased.
- Maintains personal professional development in own field of expertise by attending related training seminars and actively participating in professional associations.
- Maintains effective relationships with employees service providers vendors and others.
- Performs other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS and LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong interpersonal organizational and communications skills.
- Demonstrated familiarity with both the Intel and Mac platforms and all school related software in either platform.
- Demonstrated experience with basic network management and systems.
- Demonstrated web development experience.
Valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
Must be able to acquire a CHRC.
