Role Definition

  • Leads the organizations accounting activities including financial record keeping and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining records of organizations financial activity in accordance with GAAP organizational standards and in compliance with Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
  • Creating reports on financial performance for internal and external use.
  • Completing month-end quarter-end and year-end closing activities including but not limited to: related to foreign exchange cash management and tax including preparing the appropriate audit work papers for such activities.
  • Supporting and assisting junior accounting staff in the development of their professional skills

  • Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives projects groups or activities making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.
  • Accounting: Knowledge of accounting methods processes and tools; ability to maintain and prepare financial statements and reports using accounting methods and processes.
  • Financial Analysis: Knowledge of tools and approaches of financial analysis; ability to read interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material.
  • Financial Reporting: Knowledge of processes methods and tools of financial reporting; ability to create and maintain accurate and thorough financial reports.

  • Expert-Level Application of US GAAP Applies comprehensive knowledge of US GAAP to ensure integrity in financial reporting. Acts as a resource for applying standards and mentoring others on practical implementation.
  • Financial Statement Analysis & Interpretation Conducts in-depth analysis of financial statements to uncover trends assess performance drivers and inform executive decision-making. Translates complex data into actionable insights for senior leadership and board-level reporting.
  • Servant Leadership & Team Development Embodies a servant leadership mindsetactively supporting team success through mentorship coaching and knowledge sharing. Invests in the growth of junior staff fostering a collaborative culture rooted in accountability and continuous learning.

  • Advanced Oracle ERP Expertise Leverages deep proficiency in Oracle-based systems to lead and optimize end-to-end financial close processes. Partners cross-functionally to enhance system configurations automate workflows and drive operational efficiency across global entities.
  • Strategic Consolidations Leadership Oversees complex multi-entity consolidations with precision ensuring regulatory compliance and alignment with corporate reporting standards. Provides strategic insight to account for complex transactions including inter-company eliminations and foreign currency translations.

Additional information:

  • This position requires the successful candidate to work full time 5 days per week in the Nashville main office.

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors job level market locationjob-related knowledge skills individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
