How youll contribute
A Scheduler within the Advanced Surgery department who excels in this role will schedule patient testing/procedures/admissions obtains pre-cert/authorization numbers and enters in the registration system obtains and enters accurate insurance information and answers incoming patient phone calls. Additional duties include:
- Informs patient or physicians office staff of any carrier that is out of network or any issue that may result in a decrease of benefits.
- Informs patient or physicians office staff of any special instructions or testing requirements and/or provides any other pertinent information or documents.
- Maintains knowledge of the scheduling reports for the next day to ensure patient registration staff are aware of patients presenting for services appropriate testing is performed; time is available; staff are available for testing or procedures.
- Obtains physicians orders and authorization/pre-certification. Enters outpatient procedures in the Order Entry System.
- Ensures consistency between scheduling module and admissions module for patients being admitted for services.
Schedule:This is a Full Time Benefited position. The work schedule for this role is Monday Friday 8am-4:30pm. Occasional overtime may be available.
What were looking for
Qualified applicants must have completed High School diploma or equivalent as a requirement or at least 3 years of direct medical scheduling experience may be substituted for the required education. Additional requirements include:
- Medical office and terminology experience preferred.
- Requires critical thinking skills decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment including but not limited to computer copier telephone fax scanner. Computer experience required
