Job Summary:
The Audio/Visual Technician provides technical expertise and support for live events athletic activities and multimedia system operations. This role requires hands-on experience with A/V systems live event support and troubleshooting in fast-paced environments. The technician must be flexible and available to work evenings weekends and special events.
Location: Ames Iowa United States
Responsibilities:
- Setting up troubleshooting and managing audio/visual equipment including sound systems projectors video walls microphones and other multimedia systems.
- Providing technical support for live events including sports events concerts and conferences.
- Performing preventive maintenance and technical troubleshooting on A/V equipment.
- Working in high-pressure fast-paced environments and handling last-minute issues during events.
- Coordinating event-related A/V setup tear down and troubleshooting.
- Transporting setting up and breaking down A/V equipment during events.
- Collaborating with internal teams and external clients.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Bachelors degree in Audio/Visual Engineering Telecommunications or related technical field or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum 3 5 years of hands-on experience in audio/visual system operations and technical support.
- Proven expertise in live event support.
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
- Ability to adapt to new technologies and equipment used in the A/V field.
- Comfortable working in athletic events during off-hours including nights and weekends.
- Physical ability to transport set up and break down A/V equipment during events.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Experience supporting audio/visual systems in higher education / Universities or athletic facilities.
- Experience working in sports/entertainment events or live-streaming.
- Experience with event setups during weekends evenings or emergencies.
- Knowledge of integrated AV systems (e.g. digital signage automated control systems).
- Proficiency in audio/visual troubleshooting using advanced diagnostic tools.
- CTS (Certified Technology Specialist)
- CTS-I (Certified Technology Specialist - Installation)
- CTS-D (Certified Technology Specialist - Design)
- Additional Certifications related to A/V equipment or platforms.
Special Considerations:
- Must be comfortable working in athletic events during off-hours including nights and weekends.
