The Opportunity
The Distribution Lead with general guidance will work independently and is responsible for providing team day-to-day guidance. Directs Material Handlers to obtain the desired results and achieve departmental goals by coordinating resources working with the Supervisor on group related issues and helps develop and implement plans. Identifies and analyzes problems plans tasks and solutions. Participates in cycle count inventory actives (e.g. Root cause analysis on discrepancies). Uses good judgment / knowledge when making decisions on how to approach the ever-changing workload. Creates and updates work schedules/assignments (e.g. assigned parts lists Over time schedules). Participates in employee training and development.
- Develops team of material handlers by securing appropriate training schedules and distributes work assignments monitors employees in their daily tasks and provide direction to employees to achieve unit or departmental goals. Assists group members in problem solving trouble shooting and the handling of unique situations. Possesses the skills and abilities to direct a small group of specialized warehouse employees in the achievement of their daily tasks.
- Insure all material handlers follow the appropriate policies and procedures.
- Understand all operations and support systems including inventory traceability and documentation systems.
- Train employees as for the area motivate and enhance the morale and self-esteem of team personnel.
- Interact effectively and professionally to maintain working relationships with Abbott customers both internally and externally by meeting regularly responding to requests and explaining procedures.
- Interface with other areas to communicate work priorities and provide guidance on how to handle situations.
- Able to interface directly with customers and help locate items.
- Work with the Supervisor on recognition for group members work schedules and vacation schedules.
- May be key contact person for internal audits of the area.
- Understand all operations and support systems including inventory and traceability and is responsible for assisting key personnel in the timely and accurate reconciliation of all inventory discrepancies.
- Works independently and directs group with little supervision for the majority of their workday.
- Should identify repetitive issues and work with appropriate areas to eliminate.
- Must be able to read and understand all department policies job responsibilities and troubleshoot systems and processes.
- Assures that all safety security and quality rules and regulations are followed.
- Facilitate/lead staff communication meetings.
- Directly involved in process improvements that impact efficiency accuracy and overall safety of the department operations.
- Knowledge of scanner functions and procedures.
- Customer Service duties may include the handling of complaints and the coordination of customer needs such as lost or undeliverable packages pickups returns and making process improvements based on customer feedback and concerns. Help with coordination of expedite on Priority Packages for same day delivery.
- Oversee the Receiving process of incoming packages. Receives verifies (qtys) and controls product from inventory in the event of a NCMR.
- Acts as liaison and representative for all material stores/ warehouse areas with manufacturing and support groups such as engineering technicians quality control and management.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma / GEDan equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Minimum 6 years
- Ability to routinely use of Microsoft office (word excel and outlook).
- Working knowledge of SAP inventory system.
- Will perform tasks in a quality system environment which can result in noncompliance with governmental regulations.
- Applies extensive knowledge of business concepts procedures and practices and a complete understanding of fundamentals in a functional area.
- May design develop or modify area-specific processes or procedures.
- Essential interpersonal skills include the ability to communicate effectively across many functional areas and to interact productively with customers.
- A fork-lift license is to perform warehouse duties when needed.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; and strong PC skills.
- Performs specialized assignments usually in the nature of projects requiring working independently. Maintains confidentiality in handling sensitive information or documents.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds work a pallet jack and be trained on a forklift.
- Multitask in a quickly changing environment with little or no loss in productivity.
- Interface with various systems electronic devices computers and software to help generate reports and perform other daily tasks.
- Needs to be self-motivated able to work independently with little or no direction.
The base pay for this position is
$20.10 $40.20/hour
