Job Description

The Dispatcher is responsible for scheduling and coordinating service to meet customer needs ensuring that routes are executed efficiently and in compliance with company policies. This role acts as a central point of communication between drivers operations customer service sales and maintenance teams troubleshooting potential service issues before they occur and maintaining a strong focus on customer satisfaction.



Key Responsibilities

  • Schedule services and manage customer requests for service changes ensuring completion in line with company standards.

  • Dispatch calls to drivers based on route assignments and driver locations.

  • Conduct driver check-ins at the end of each day to ensure all paperwork is accurate and complete.

  • Collect review and distribute route sheets for proper data entry.

  • Collaborate with internal departments to clarify roles and responsibilities in resolving service issues.

  • Partner with routing specialists to optimize routes for efficiency.

  • Field and respond to incoming calls and emails from customers.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve delivery or pickup problems proactively.

  • Assist in determining daily driver staffing levels to balance responsiveness and productivity.

  • Record and distribute information from drivers to the appropriate departments.

  • Communicate regularly with maintenance shop personnel.

  • Maintain professional communication via email phone and two-way devices.

  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Operations Manager.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • High school diploma required; post-secondary education in logistics transportation or related field is an asset.

  • 12 years of experience in dispatch transportation or customer service.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-first approach.

  • Proven ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook Excel and Word.

  • Advanced computer skills with accurate data entry and typing speed.

  • Knowledge of the waste management or transportation industry is an asset.

  • Experience with TRUX software preferred; willingness and ability to learn required.

  • Ability to work extended hours including occasional weekends.

  • Additional training in transportation logistics or customer service (e.g. call center environment) is an asset.
