Job Overview
The EOD Specialist is responsible for the handling of explosives.
Essential Functions
Analyze unknown munitions and explosives.
Detect identify recover disarm and dispose of unsafe explosives and ordnance.
Read and interpret X-rays and diagrams as well as other technical documents and prepare technical intelligence and incident reports.
Provide formal instruction about unexploded ordnance to both military and civilian audiences.
Answer technical questions about explosives and firing circuit safety.
Maintain equipment technical data and vehicles.
Handle explosives regularly.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Competencies
Knowledge of composition and characteristics of United States and foreign conventional chemical biological improvised and nuclear ordnance
Knowledge of basic electronics as related to the role
Knowledge of precautions tools and protective equipment required for response to release of hazardous substances as operations level first responders and level three technicians
Knowledge of proper handling use rendering safe and treatment of hazardous explosive wastes.
Ability to remain calm under stress
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to obtain an explosives drivers license.
Education / Certifications
High School degree required along with applicable military experience.
Graduate of Naval School Explosive Ordnance Disposal (NAVSCOLEOD)
Experience
Minimum 5 years of EOD experience
