Job Duties
The Office of Epidemiology seeks an experienced public health leader to lead the Division of Disease Prevention which includes programs related to the prevention surveillance and treatment of HIV Viral Hepatitis and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI). DDP includes approximately 200 staff (including classified employees and contractors) including public health program managers epidemiologists disease intervention specialists and other roles. DDP is one of 6 programmatic divisions within the Office of Epidemiology working collectively to protect the health of all people in Virginia through the surveillance prevention and control of infectious diseases and emerging public health threats. The ideal candidate has a strong knowledge base in public health including experience in HIV STD or related addition the ideal candidate will have significant experience in leading complex public health programs interdisciplinary teams and experience with the management of federal grants. Financial and administrative experience as it relates to program operations is a valuable asset in this role in addition to experience in public health program administration.

Minimum Qualifications
Excellent oral and written communication skills including experience presenting at conferences national meetings etc. ; strong team building program management and evaluation decision making leadership and computer skills
Ability to plan and prioritize program projects and activities; formulate policies and plans for the overall work unit as well as for individual assignments; provide training and direct the work of others; maintain effective relationships including high level government officials lawmakers & others; and interpret laws regulations and policies and determine how to put them into action
Knowledge of federal grants management and state procurement and contract guidelines and policies; experience developing program plans objectives and budgets and tracking progress; administering a public health program; and managing projects and employees
Ability to prepare and manage grants and budgets; conduct research make recommendations and apply findings; develop and execute goals and objectives; develop and conduct training; interpret and implement policies and procedures; provide technical assistance
