Job Duties

Hiram W. Davis Medical Center located in Petersburg Virginia is a medical facility providing acute medical diagnoses skilled care intermediate care and long term care to individuals receiving services in DBHDS facilities and within the community that have intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. Admissions to HWDMC are generally either permanent placement or special hospitalization. Patients typically come to HWDMC as a special hospitalization for step-down to stabilize post-surgery rehabilitation or long-term care.

Hiram W. Davis Medical Center is currently recruiting a Registered Nurse to utilize knowledge base and experience to provide age-specific quality nursing care to all patients through the nursing process and standards of nursing practice. This position is responsible for planning organizing coordinating implementing and evaluating nursing care daily as well as evaluate supervise document and provide guidance in performance of staff.

Flexible shifts are available including evenings nights and weekends; these shifts are also eligible for shift differential.

Minimum Qualifications

Considerable knowledge of professional nursing supervising and administrative principles and practices; knowledge of legal requirements affecting nursing practices. Considerable skill in advanced nursing procedures specifically in an operating room/recovery room med-surgical psychiatric or geriatric field. Demonstrated ability to work independently to evaluate program and staff performance to develop standards of care and operational procedures to perform patient assessment to troubleshoot problems and to establish priorities.

Additional Considerations

Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing preferred.
