Birminghams SEND services have been growing as part of the councils long-term commitment to children young people and their families and we are thrilled that our improvements have recently been recognised by Ofsted. This role within the SEN Assessment and Review Service delivers the statutory processes related to Education Health and Care (EHC) Needs Assessments. The successful candidate will be at Senior Officer level called Senior EHCNA Coordinator and will manage a team of EHCNA Coordinators and Assistant your extensive knowledge of SEND you will ensure that information provided by parents carers children young people and the professionals that work with them lead to informed decisions about whether to proceed with an assessment and subsequently whether to issue an EHC plan. With your experience of understanding professional advice and report writing you will guide lead your team to ensure EHC plans accurately reflect the needs of our children and young people and the special education provision that will support them to achieve their ambitions and goals. You will make sure ensure that EHC plans are of high quality by applying our quality assurance processes and using a child-centred approach in all that you do.
Using your skills in communication and your person-centred approach to casework you will ensure the focus is always on the child and young person and everyone understands the processes and the decisions made. You will be experienced in adhering to statutory and locally derived timescales and procedures and will be able to use data to inform best practice. You will lead with energy and vision embracing change as a catalyst for innovation while fostering a collaborative team culture where everyone feels empowered to contribute and grow.
