Occupational Therapy Assistant/Apprentice Occupational Therapist

Permanent Full Time. Grade. Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review

Working 36.5 hours per week

Birminghams SEND and Inclusion service (part of the Children and Families Directorate) are growing as part of the councils long-term commitment to children and young people to improve their lives and support their families and we are looking for outstanding people to join us and deliver meaningful impact in this priority area.

A number of posts have arisen for new members of the service to work with children and their families in Birmingham in their communities i.e. home school etc. This is an exciting opportunity to stretch your problem-solving skills and cross-partnership working in a diverse and vibrant city.

The post holder will support a team of Occupational Therapy professionals contributing towards the assessments and recommendations of children and young people with disabilities that promotes and supports independent living. They will build strong working relationships within the service and with partner organisations as well as provide service delivery and project support through research and data collection activities. They will be responsible for providing general administrative support which includes creating and maintaining up to date records.

The successful candidate will have experience of working collaboratively within a team ideally in an education care or community setting and have excellent IT and administrative skills. They will be a strong communicator both written and verbal and have a knowledge of Occupational Therapy and an understanding of safeguarding practices.

The Childrens Occupational Therapy Service is a small but dynamic team who have presented at RCOT Conference in the past and members have been in positions on the RCOT local regional and national boards.
