The Health Public Policy Research Unit (UIPPS) of the Obesity Research Institute (IOR) at Tecnolgico de Monterrey invites postdoctoral researchers interested in developing applied interdisciplinary research with social impact in key topics of public health policy and food systems.
Selected candidates will join a team committed to bridging the gap between knowledge and action contributing to strategic national and international projects and supporting the generation of useful evidence for the design evaluation and implementation of public health policies that promote social justice ecological sustainability and health in the transformation of food systems.
Desired Profile:
- PhD completed with a focus on health in: public policy public health sociology nutrition agricultural sciences ecology sustainability rural development or related disciplines (degree required).
- At least 2 years of proven research experience with 3 or more relevant scientific outputs (Q1/Q2 journals or equivalent).
- Knowledge and/or experience in:
- Qualitative or mixed methods.
- Processes of policy advocacy or engagement with stakeholders.
- Experience in managing social projects including planning and budget administration.
- Food systems governance and public health policy design and analysis.
- Community ecological or territorial initiatives.
Personal Skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills (in Spanish and English).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Intercultural sensitivity and ethical commitment to community processes.
- Interest in international collaboration and working with multidisciplinary academic teams.
Other requirements
- Advanced English level (minimum B2 or equivalent TOEFL >600).
- Willingness to work virtually as well as to travel throughout Mexico and abroad.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement research projects aligned with UIPPS strategic lines.
- Support project logistics including fieldwork and monitoring of schedule and budget.
- Collect and analyze qualitative and/or quantitative data from territorial experiences.
- Write scientific articles technical reports public policy documents research protocols and funding proposals.
- Support advocacy processes and dissemination of evidence useful for decision makers.
- Collaborate with national and international academic and social networks.
- Supervise students and research assistants.
Conditions
- Location: Mexico City (Campus Mixcoac)
- Modality: On-site or hybrid with availability for fieldwork
- Duration: 12 months (renewable based on performance and funding availability)
- Start: October 2025
