The Indiana Afterschool Network (IAN) wants every young person in Indiana to have the best chance at making a great life for themselves and a positive impact in their communities. We believe out-of-school time programming (i.e. before school after school and during the summer) can play a major role in that. For more than two decades IAN has been committed to supporting the organizations that provide out-of-school time (OST) programming. Our commitment to those programs has included supports and resources that promote continuous program quality improvement increasing families access to OST programming and advocacy that help to shape the environments in which OST program providers short we are committed to serving the program providers that directly serve Indiana youth.
POSITION SUMMARY
IANs Associate Director of Membership is responsible for leading and implementing IANs statewide membership program ensuring it serves as a cornerstone for advancing out-of-school time (OST) programs across Indiana. This role strengthens provider engagement fosters relationships and ensures IANs membership program is valuable for members data-driven sustainable and aligned with organizational goals.
The Associate Director will support IANs mission of advancing learning beyond the school day by helping providers access resources training and advocacy while mobilizing members to contribute to a strong statewide network.

The Associate Director of Membership must live in Indiana.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Membership Program Implementation
- Lead the ongoing management of IANs Membership Program with a focus on recruitment retention and engagement across all membership categories (Organizational Professional Affiliate).
- Operationalize the Membership Program strategies by:
- Quantifying and connecting with providers statewide.
- Collecting and analyzing membership data to inform strategy quality improvement and advocacy.
- Measuring IANs membership impact through participation engagement and outcomes.
Member Engagement & Support
- Provide onboarding technical assistance and customer support to members through the membership portal and tailored sessions.
- Coordinate consistent presentations and communications across IANs 11 Engagement Regions supporting local leaders and IANs regional convenings.
- Facilitate networking and peer-learning opportunities to strengthen provider relationships and field connections.
- Build relationships with members to better understand member needs and to ensure a positive experience for members.
Advocacy & Data Integration
- Ensure member engagement advances IANs advocacy platform by mobilizing members for campaigns Statehouse Day and other initiatives.
- Partner with IANs Advocacy and Engagement teams to integrate membership data into policy strategies and quality improvement initiatives .
- Support the development of the annual State of OST Report by curating and analyzing member data.
Collaboration & Partnerships
- Work closely with Engagement Team staff (Advocacy Engagement Development) to align membership activities with IANs strategic goals.
- Serve as liaison to Provider Council members regarding membership initiatives.
- Build relationships with partners and affiliates to expand membership value and influence.

DEMONSTRATED SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Demonstrated success in recruiting retaining and engaging members or stakeholders.
- Strong skills in relationship-building communication and customer service.
- Experience in managing projects to completion with ability to balance multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with CRM systems and digital platforms (Salesforce preferred).
- Demonstrated commitment to equity inclusion and cultural competence in professional practice.
- Preferred:
- Knowledge of Indianas OST landscape and policy environment.
- Experience in mobilizing stakeholders for advocacy campaigns.
- Skilled in data collection analysis and reporting to demonstrate program impact.
- Background in facilitating professional development networking or regional convenings.
- Strong understanding of nonprofit membership models and revenue generation.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit management education youth development or a related field.
- Minimum of 35 years of experience in membership programs engagement or provider services.
- Ability to travel across Indiana and work independently with initiative.
- Experience working OST youth development or education sector preferred.
