Job Description

Job Title: Psychiatric Technician

Location: William Beaumont Army Medical Center Department of Behavioral Health 18511 Highland Medics St El Paso TX 79918

Work Schedule: Monday Friday(8-hour shifts not to exceed 40 hours per week)

Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Psychiatric Technician Program; or completion of military behavioral health/psychiatric technician training.

  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of Psychiatric Technician experience within the last 2 years.

  • License/Certification: BLS certification required.

  • Other Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the treatment and rehabilitation of behavioral health patients under the supervision of licensed providers.

  • Conduct or assist in initial patient assessments including mental status exams substance abuse evaluations and psychological screenings.

  • Observe monitor and document patient behavior progress and response to treatment.

  • Provide patient education in coordination with mental health and nursing staff.

  • Assist in individual and group therapy sessions therapeutic activities and other behavioral programs.

  • Institute precautionary measures to ensure patient safety and prevent self-harm or suicide.

  • Record and maintain accurate treatment notes patient charts and reports in AHLTA/MHS GENESIS.

  • Assist patients with daily living needs including hygiene nutrition and comfort measures.

  • Measure and record vital signs as required.

  • Collaborate with military and civilian care providers making appropriate referrals and coordinating continuity of care.

  • Provide support during crisis situations and assist patients with acute or post-traumatic stress reactions.
