Job Description
We are looking for a Configuration Engineer who is very skilled and pays close attention to detail to join our team. The person who gets the job will be in charge of managing maintaining and improving configuration processes and systems to make sure that our products and solutions are reliable and trustworthy. The Configuration Engineer will work with teams from different departments such as software developers quality assurance and operations to put into place configuration management strategies that support the goals of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Make configuration management plans and procedures write them down and put them into action.
During the product lifecycle you are in charge of keeping track of and controlling the baselines for software hardware and documentation.
Oversee version control systems and make sure that they follow both industry standards and company rules.
Work with the development and QA teams to plan the release of configuration changes and updates.
Look into and fix problems differences and conflicts that have to do with configuration.
Use modern tools and scripts to automate and simplify the processes of managing configurations.
Check the accuracy and completeness of configuration data by doing regular audits.
Train and help your internal teams learn the best ways to manage configurations.
Make and give configuration status reports to senior management and other important people.
Requirements:
A bachelors degree in a field related to computer science information technology engineering or something similar.
More than two years of experience in configuration management systems engineering or a related field.
Able to use configuration management tools like Git Subversion Jenkins and Ansible.
A good grasp of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and DevOps ideas.
Great at solving problems staying organized and talking to people.
Having worked in regulated fields like aerospace defense or healthcare is a plus.
It is very helpful to have a certification in configuration management such as CMII or ITIL.
Pay: $45 to $65 an hour depending on experience and qualifications.
