You Will Be Doing:
In this long-term non-permanent nutrition position you will provide direct services to Alaskan participants of the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women Infants & Children (WIC) who do not have a WIC program in their area which at the time of writing includes Fairbanks NorthStar Borough and Southeast Alaska.
You will also conduct both low-risk and high-risk nutrition counseling at least quarterly for each WIC participant; promote and educate participants about the benefits of breastfeeding; initiate outreach in the region to increase participation rates; conduct regulatory and compliance monitoring of grocery stores (ie WIC-approved vendors) that are approved to accept WIC food benefits; process WIC applications; issue WIC benefits; and develop vital networking strategies to improve WIC service delivery.
Frequent Travel is required as part of this position.
