Job Summary

Job Responsibilities

Trident Technical College seeks a Director of Facility Services. This position reports to the Vice President of Operations and is considered essential personnel during and after emergencies. The director leads daily custodial building grounds landscaping and beautification programs including staffing scheduling and training for all shifts at every location. This role will also manage grounds landscapes gardens green spaces paved areas hardscapes wetlands and pond maintenance. The Director ensures all College campuses are safe functional and visually appealing for all Trident Tech campuses located in Charleston North Charleston Mt. Pleasant Moncks Corner and Summerville.
This position will oversee custodial and janitorial programs ensuring that all shifts are staffed and facilities are properly maintained and cleaned. Responsibilities include but are not limited to maintaining cleanliness and safety painting building interiors and exteriors and installing outdoor lighting. The Director also manages signage seasonal plantings pruning carpentry irrigation roof drainage and wetland mitigation.
The Director drives budgeting and expense monitoring spearheading project planning training scheduling supply sourcing and employee recruiting with a focus on operational excellence. As a key college leader the Director manages contracts vendor relationships and ensures preparedness for safety emergencies and wetland mitigation.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

This position requires a bachelors degree and relevant program experience. Preferred candidate will have a bachelors degree plus four (4) years relevant program experience in horticulture landscaping plant operations and custodial operations as well as supervisory experience. Must possess a valid SC drivers license.

Preferred Qualifications

In alignment with the Vice President for Operations broad policy and guidance this role requires the initiative to continuously improve departmental processes and performance ensuring consistency with overall management objectives. Candidate will have demonstrated knowledge of management principles facilities operations and program oversight with tangible experience in janitorial and landscaping services. Strong leadership abilities with experience in strategic planning resource allocation and performance management. Proficiency with software for data tracking analytics dashboards and budget management. Excellent communication skills both oral and written with the ability to present to staff and senior leadership. Physical ability to conduct site inspections and respond to emergency situations. Successful candidate will support program operations and ensure continuous departmental function. The position involves travel between campuses and sites as well as the physical ability to conduct site inspections. Availability for emergency response is required 24 hours a day including rotational on-call duties on weekends and support before during and after severe weather or other emergencies.
