Inviting applications for the role of Lead Consultant MySQL Database Administrator

We are looking for a highly skilled Lead Consultant MySQL Database Administrator to manage optimize and support enterprise-grade MySQL database environments. The candidate will be responsible for installation configuration performance tuning backup/recovery and ensuring high availability of MySQL databases. This role requires hands-on technical expertise along with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and support business-critical applications.

Responsibilities

• Install configure and maintain MySQL database servers (on-premise and cloud).
• Monitor database performance and implement performance tuning indexing and query optimization.
• Manage backup restore replication and failover procedures to ensure high availability.
• Administer user access roles and security policies to maintain compliance.
• Implement partitioning clustering and sharding strategies for large datasets.
• Perform capacity planning patching and version upgrades.
• Troubleshoot incidents and resolve database-related issues as per defined SLAs.
• Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to support deployments and DB changes.
• Automate routine DBA tasks using scripting (Shell Python or Ansible).
• Document database standards procedures and best practices.
• Support 24x7 on-call rotation for critical production environments.

Qualifications we seek in you!

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in information technology Computer Science or a related field.
• Strong expertise in MySQL 5.7/8.0 administration replication clustering (Galera) and backups.
• Solid knowledge of Linux administration (RHEL CentOS Ubuntu).
• Proficiency in performance tuning query optimization and indexing.
• Experience with backup & recovery tools (mysqldump Percona XtraBackup etc.).
• Knowledge of cloud-hosted MySQL (AWS RDS Aurora GCP CloudSQL Azure Database for MySQL).
• Hands-on experience with HA/DR setup (replication clustering failover).
• Familiarity with monitoring tools (Nagios Prometheus Percona Monitoring CloudWatch).
• Strong scripting skills in Shell / Python for automation.
• Understanding of security best practices and compliance (GDPR HIPAA PCI-DSS)

Preferred Qualifications/ Skills

• Bachelors degree in computer science IT or related field.
• Certifications: MySQL DBA Certification / AWS Database Specialty / Google Cloud SQL certification.
• Exposure to NoSQL databases (MongoDB Cassandra) is a plus.
• Experience in DevOps/CI-CD integration with DBs is desirable.
