This position is open to experienced nurses and new grad nurses.

The Ambulatory Care Registered Nurse (RN) is accountable for the delivery of direct patient care including patient education in the outpatient setting.

The ancillary diagnostic tests performed on Gonda 9 South include gastroduodenal and colon motility tests that are completed to evaluate patients for myogenic and/or neurogenic pathologies such as gastroparesis or colonic inertia. Anorectal manometry is performed to evaluate pelvic floor dysfunction. The RN in this position performs these ancillary tests and also works a portion of time in the GI Endoscopy practice.

RNs working in Procedures are responsible for reviewing the GI focused history and patient assessment gathered by the Intake this capacity RNs will provide Moderate Sedation under the direction of the Physician; provide physiologic monitoring and airway management of the sedated patient and respond to emergency situations in the procedure room.

This environment is fast-paced highly unpredictable and requires extreme attention to detail. The role requires expert critical thinking attention to detail time management multi-tasking and the ability to function autonomously in an unpredictable environment. The ability to comfortably manage multiple computer applications is essential.

All RNs are trained to interpret ECG rhythms and will be expected to attain ACLS certification within their first 3-6 months of employment.

For new grad nurses: All newly graduated Registered Nurses with less than 12 months of practice experience hired into a scheduled FTE Registered Nurse position on the Rochester campus of Mayo Clinic are automatically enrolled in the NurseResidencyProgram. A separate application or enrollment process is not required. All nurses new to Mayo Clinic regardless of experience will receive an extensive orientation program.

The registered nurse (RN) is accountable for the coordination of nursing care including direct patient care patient/family education and transitions of care. The RN supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family. The RN will function within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model which includes accountability for planning implementing evaluating and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients. The ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice provide a basis for the practice of the RN. The RN provides leadership through activities such as preceptor role informal and formal leadership roles and quality improvement efforts. The RN delegates patient care according to skill level experience patient acuity fiscal accountability and availability of resources. The RN possesses excellent communication skills; is skillful in mentoring and teaching; and may participate on committees or projects. A subset of employees may be required to drive their personal vehicle as a part of the responsibility of their role.

This role is eligible for TN sponsorship. Successful sponsorship will require state licensure and completion of the VisaScreen or equivalent certification.



Qualifications

Student or graduate of an accredited or those in the candidacy process associate or diploma nursing program as recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA). If graduated from a nursing program that was not accredited by ACEN CCNE or NLN CNEA at least one year of RN experience in an applicable care setting is required.

All entry-level associate degree registered nurses with a RN start date of April 1 2020 and after must provide documented evidence of program completion of the baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program within five years from the last day of the month of the RN start date.

All entry-level associate degree registered nurses with a RN start date prior to April 1 2020 must provide documented evidence of program completion of the baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program as stipulated by the degree requirement program in place at time of hire.
One year of RN experience in an applicable care setting or one year of current LPN experience at Mayo Clinic is preferred.

Previous moderate sedation and ECG interpretation experience preferred.

One year RN experience within the last five years preferred. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Experience working in a team environment. Computer skills required prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred. Ability to work flexible hours. Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting. Demonstrated leadership effective communicator and excellent critical thinking skills. Additional specialty certification/training as required by the work area. Failure to complete the education/orientation requirements will be handled accordingly per departmental guidelines.

Internal applicants should submit their three most recent performance appraisals.

Current RN license by applicable state requirements. Arizona and Florida - Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency. Midwest - Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Positions that are not on campus may not require current Basic Life Support (BLS) competency as determined by the work area.
